In 2014, the Independent Publishing Resource Center wanted to crowdfund an expansion of their prison writing program.
Their program was one of only two nonsecular programs available at the Columbia River Correctional Institution. The classes ran every week for two years, bringing inmates the opportunity to practice critical writing and communication skills, and the IPRC wanted to expand to serve the wait list of eager participants.
To support this project, I provided campaign consulting, wrote and edited the video script, filmed and edited the main Kickstarter video and three update videos strategically released during the campaign, shot and edited photography, and composed and recorded original music for the main video.
RESULTS: The campaign was overwhelmingly successful, raising $5,010 of the $4,000 goal.
The campaign also succeeded in engaging the public with issues of prison reform, recidivism, and community support for ex-inmates.
